El Ministerio de Cultura declaró como Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación 446 bienes muebles de origen prehispánico peruano, pertenecientes a los periodos intermedio temprano, horizonte medio, intermedio tardío y horizonte tardío de la Costa y Sierra Sur.
El artículo II del Título Preliminar de la Ley N° 28296, Ley General del Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación y sus modificatorias, define como bien integrante del Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación a toda manifestación del quehacer humano -material o inmaterial- que, por su importancia, valor y significado paleontológico, arqueológico, arquitectónico, histórico, artístico, militar, social, antropológico, tradicional, religioso, etnológico, científico, tecnológico o intelectual, sea expresamente declarado como tal o sobre el que exista la presunción legal de serlo.
Se trata de bienes textiles que fueron incautados en una acción conjunta de la Policía Nacional del Perú y el Ministerio de Cultura, comprobándose su origen prehispánico. Su declaración como Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación se da en razón de su valor histórico, porque son un testimonio tangible del avance tecnológico, social y cultural de las sociedades que se desarrollaron en el sur del Perú en la época prehispánica.
Su valor social es de vital importancia y trascendencia, al ser bienes culturales recuperados mediante la incautación, lo que permite contar con elementos para fortalecer la identidad cultural de los peruanos y el reconocimiento de nuestro patrimonio cultural a nivel nacional e internacional.
