Muchas veces, las altas temperaturas suelen causar diferentes problemas a los humanos. Sin embargo, nuestras mascotas también entran en este grupo perjudicado por el calor intenso. Este aspecto tiene más importancia en el caso de los perros, porque al no tener glándulas sudoríparas repartidas por el cuerpo, únicamente pueden regular su temperatura corporal mediante los jadeos, y eliminar el sudor a través de las almohadillas de sus patas, proceso que de por sí es lento.

Esto provoca que, si su temperatura corporal aumenta considerablemente, pueda presentar un golpe de calor, que puede ser peligroso. Si observas algunos de estos síntomas en tu mascota, procura llevarlo al médico veterinario de confianza.

Síntomas del golpe de calor en perros:

  • La aceleración del ritmo cardiaco del perro, acompañada de jadeos con presencia de babas, y de una respiración rápida y nerviosa, son algunos de los síntomas de un golpe de calor en perros más evidentes.
  • Un golpe de calor en tu perro puede aumentar su temperatura corporal a más de 42°C, teniendo en cuenta que el nivel medio óptimo en perros es de 38 a 39°C.
  • Se produce una disminución de azúcar y sales en su cuerpo, que se puede manifestar mediante la presencia de temblores, debilidad muscular y falta de equilibrio. En algunos casos, también puede tener vómitos y diarrea.
  • Sus mucosas y encías pueden adquirir un color azulado debido a la falta de oxigenación en sangre.
  • El perro puede llegar a perder la conciencia, y sufrir daños mayores tales como hemorragias, insuficiencia renal o hepática, daño cerebral, e incluso fallo en varios órganos.

Recuerda, puedes refrescarlo con un poco de agua en el área abdominal y en la cabeza. Asimismo, darle golosinas congeladas especialmente para consumo animal.
