En esta fecha se celebra en Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Venezuela, el Día del Turismo Andino, la cual fue establecida por estas naciones andinas para promover sus atractivos turísticos y sus servicios de atención a los visitantes provenientes de otros países. Esta fecha ha sido establecida desde el año 2000.

Los países involucrados en esta celebración, realizan una serie de actividades de soporte técnico y reforzamiento para los agentes involucrados en el turismo, en el cual se les capacita con charlas de sensibilización, reflexión y cultura turística, a fin de tomar su labor con la debida responsabilidad y apasionado profesionalismo.

Así también efectúan con ocasión de este día, actividades para los turistas que visitan diversos lugares, a fin de brindarles a ellos la calidez y atención que corresponde. Este día busca también afianzar las relaciones históricas, geográficas y sociales de los países andinos, consolidándose como una región atractiva para el mundo.
