Una vasectomía es una cirugía sencilla que realiza un médico en un consultorio, un hospital o una clínica. Durante este procedimiento, los pequeños conductos en tu escroto que transportan el esperma se cortan o bloquean, por lo que el este no puede salir del cuerpo y provocar un embarazo.
Existen dos tipos de vasectomía: el método con incisión y el método no quirúrgico (sin bisturí). Los métodos sin corte reducen el riesgo de infección y otras complicaciones, y en general tardan menos tiempo en cicatrizar.
La vasectomía sin bisturí se realiza por ser menos invasiva y con menos riesgos y sangrado, con la misma efectividad. También es posible evitar el pinchazo inicial para la anestesia local, ya que se puede aplicar con aerosol.
Asimismo, consiste en impedir que los espermatozoides se desplacen por los conductos deferentes. Se emplean unas pinzas específicas diseñadas para separar la piel y exteriorizar dichos conductos, de forma que la vasectomía se realiza de forma menos traumática, sin cortes como se realiza en la vasectomía convencional con bisturí.
La recuperación tras la vasectomía sin bisturí suele llevar unos cuantos días, durante los cuales el paciente puede notar molestia e hinchazón en el escroto. Podrá incorporarse a la jornada laboral entre 1 y 3 días después de la operación y puede sostener relaciones sexuales de forma normal una semana después de la intervención.
