Punta Hermosa, ubicada en el sur de Lima, es uno de los balnearios más famoso por sus atractivas playas y aptas para la práctica del surf y el bodyboard.

PLAYA BLANCA, PUNTA HERMOSA.

El distrito de Punta Hermosa fue creado el 7 de abril de1954, mediante la Ley Nº 12095, durante el gobierno del presidente de la Republica, Manuel A. Odría.

Al comienzo, fue un distrito habitado por pescadores y visitantes, amantes de las playas. Debido a eso, los comerciantes vieron una buena opción de negocio, por ese motivo comenzaron a instalarse y abrir pequeños negocios para abastecer a los esporádicos veraneantes. El nombre de “Punta Hermosa” se debe al sunset, la luz del sol se reflejaba en el islote de la playa y los pobladores aclamaban “¡Qué hermosa se ve la punta!”.

Matías Espichan, fue el primer poblador que se estableció en esta localidad, fue tan reconocido por la comuna del lugar que una de las avenidas principales lleva su nombre. Adicionalmente, llegó a ser alcalde durante siete periodos consecutivos. Su sucesor seria Jorge Calatayud Calampa, él no fue poblador del distrito, solo fue un visitante, creador y diseñador del escudo del distrito.

Es uno de los distintos más concurridos en la época de verano, muy famosos por su cálido balneario y por las atractivas playas. Cientos de visitantes y turistas aprovechaban del verano para disfrutar de sus playas y sus restaurantes marinos que alberga.

Entre sus atractivos turísticos, están los balnearios: El Silencio y Punta Hermosa, la Plaza Central donde se ubica la Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, el Malecón Central, las Playas Señoritas, Caballeros, Norte Central, Blanca, La Isla, Kontiki. También las discotecas, restaurantes y casas de playas que sirven de alquiler para algunos visitantes.
