El Ministerio de Salud priorizó la vacunación contra la COVID-19 a personas con trastornos mentales severos como por ejemplo las tipo afectivo emocional , pacientes que padecen ansiedad depresión y trastorno bipolar.
Seguidamente, se encuentran los pacientes psicóticos, que padecen esquizofrenia.
El tercer grupo, son los bipolares, que integran las personas que nacieron con una dificultad de neurodesarrollo, los espectro autista y déficit cognitivo , que antiguamente se le conocía como retraso mental.
Según la doctora Julissa Castro Escalante, Médicos Psiquiatra del Hospital “Víctor Larco Herrera”, señala que se ha priorizado a estas personas debido a que no tienen una conexión objetiva con la realidad y pueden estar más expuestos al riesgo de contraer la COVID- 19
“Algunos pueden salir sin mascarilla o quizá no tienen los cuidados adecuados. Una persona bipolar, en su estado de manía, es decir alegría excesiva o inestable, puede no protegerse adecuadamente y, por esa razón, está más expuesta ante el covid-19. Lo mismo puede pasar con un niño con autismo o un adulto con discapacidad intelectual”, menciona Castro.
Los pacientes de salud mental que reciban la vacuna contra la COVID-19 no es necesario que dejen de tomar sus medicamentos , debido a que al momento de la vacunación pueden encontrarse irritables e inestables emocionalmente y se tendría que primero regular su medicación como la estuvieron proporcionando al paciente para luego recién poder ser inoculado.
Se recomienda a las familias que posiblemente sospechan que algún miembro del hogar padece de algún trastorno mental, acudir a un especialista para recibir el diagnóstico correspondiente, comenzar con el tratamiento y acceder a la vacunación proporcionada por el Ministerio de Salud.
