Aunque no se ha demostrado que este examen por sí solo pueda determinar con precisión la presencia de cáncer de seno, es una buena opción para ver si algo anormal en nuestro cuerpo. Por lo tanto, no se debe utilizar para reemplazar, sino para complementar, el examen clínico del seno y la mamografía.

Lo primero que debes hacer es mirar al frente y observar la presencia de arrugas, hoyuelos o alteraciones en el tamaño, la forma o la simetría de la mama. También verifica si los pezones están hundidos.

Por otro lado, programa una consulta con tu médico si notas lo siguiente: Un bulto o nódulo duro cerca de la axila. Cambios en la forma en que se ven o se sienten las mamas, incluidos un engrosamiento o una pesadez notable, diferentes al tejido circundante. Picazón, escamas, llagas o erupciones y secreción sanguinolenta del pezón

Recuerda que es natural sentir miedo al descubrir un bulto, pero no permita que la posibilidad de un cáncer retrase la toma de medidas. Recuerde que la mayoría de los bultos son benignos (no cancerosos).
