El gobierno anunció que los pacientes con hemodiálisis y personas con síndrome Down pueden acercarse a los centros de vacunación para recibir la dosis de la vacuna contra la COVID- 19.
El objetivo de incluir a esta población es protegerlos ante un futuro contagio que pueda complicar su salud con síntomas graves de la enfermedad.
Sin embargo, para Marco Almerí, especialista en salud pública esa población representa solamente el 0.07% y no tendría mayor impacto si se desea llegar a una inmunidad colectiva.
“Da la impresión que [el Gobierno] está avanzando con todos los pacientes enfermos. Sin embargo, los Síndromes de Down en el Perú 8.800 en total. Aún cuando vacunen a todos más lo de hemodiálisis, representa solo el 0.07%; es decir, casi nada”, mencionó Almerí.
Señaló también que para alcanzar esa inmunidad colectiva se requiere inmunizar a más de 130,000 personas por día con la vacuna contra la COVID-19, Añadiendo que nuestro país se encuentra distanciado de esa cifra diaria.
Cabe mencionar, que a partir de mañana 11 de mayo empezarán con la vacuna de personas con síndrome de Down mayores de 18 años y el miércoles 12 con los pacientes en hemodiálisis.
