Las fuerzas de ambos equipos fueron parejas en gran parte del encuentro, sobre todo en la primera parte en la que no lograron sacarse diferencias, esto a pesar de las situaciones de gol que lograron generarse en los dos arcos.
Con el marcador en cero, fue Alianza Universidad el equipo que se asomó algo más al ataque en la segunda parte, esto en razón de las buenas triangulaciones entre Julio Landauri, Reimond Manco y Carlos Neumann.
El gol del conjunto dirigido por Rony Revollar vino después de que Rizzo evitara un gol con la mano, el árbitro del partido, Bruno Pérez, expulsó al argentino e indico penal. El delantero paraguayo Neumann fue el encargado de la pena máxima ejecutándolo de forma bastante eficiente que fue imposible de atajar para el portero Eder Hermoza.
Cusco FC trató de emparejar la cuenta en los minutos finales, pero la defensa huanuqueña estuvo bien parada y supo resistir cada uno de los embates del cuadro cusqueño, que dio la sensación de haber estado cerca del empate, pero que finalmente se quedó con las manos vacías.
Para la segunda fecha, Alianza Universidad enfrentará a la Universidad Cesar Vallejo, por su lado Cusco FC se verá las caras en el duelo interzonal de la fecha con su rival de la ciudad, Cienciano.
