Con la presencia del volante peruano Pedro Aquino, América logró vencer este domingo por 1-0 a Pumas UNAM en el Estadio Olímpico Universitario. Nuestro compatriota disputó 58 minutos y pese a no concluir el encuentro, siempre mostró ser dueño del mediocampo de las ‘Águilas’; que se clasifican en el segundo lugar a los cuartos de final de la Liga MX Guard1anes 2021.
En un encuentro bastante parejo, los dirigidos por Santiago Solari supieron dar caza en el momento justo para confirmar su favoritismo en la presente temporada por el máximo galardón del torneo azteca.
Bajo esa premisa, se presentó una primera mitad más luchada que jugada, que con el transcurrir de los minutos comenzó a tener acciones peligrosas para ambos bandos. La más contundente tal vez se dio sobre los 30 minutos, cuando en una acción entre Martínez y Viñas, este último remató cruzado al segundo palo del arquero, que por poco no terminó metiéndose.
Ya en la segunda mitad, el técnico de las ‘Águilas’ apostó por algunas variantes, entre ellas la de Pedro Aquino. Sin embargo, la que más influyó fue la de Martin Henry; quien finalmente sería el autor del único tanto de la noche. En esa línea, cuando llegaban los 83 minutos, el delantero recibió de Alan Medina para que en el mano a mano no fallara a la salida del portero Talavera.
Con esta victoria, el equipo del futbolista nacional cierra la parte regular de la Liga MX Guard1anes 2021 en el segundo lugar, con un total de 38 puntos. Mientras que, Pumas UNAM terminó en el decimoquinto puesto con apenas 18 unidades, afuera de la zona de liguilla.
