Atlético Grau dejó pasar la gran oportunidad de alcanzar la cima de la Fase 2 tras igualar sin goles con Santos FC en el estadio de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Con este resultado, el 'Patrimonio' sumó 14 puntos y se ubica en el tercer lugar de las clasificaciones, mientras que los nasqueños treparon al décimo puesto con cinco unidades.

Grau y Santos disputaron un entretenido y reñido encuentro por la séptima jornada del torneo de ascenso peruano. Tal es así que las oportunidades de gol no tardaron en llegar. Álvaro Medrano fue el primero en avisar con un remate de cabeza, pero Ronaldo Ruiz evitó la caída de su arco.

Minutos después, Medrano volvió a inquietar la portería piurana. Sin embargo, el balón se fue por un costado del arco tras un remate de larga distancia. Grau respondió con un disparo de Germán Pacheco que pasó muy cerca del poste izquierdo de Carlos Román, quien en su siguiente intervención le ahogó el grito de gol a Santiago Pallares.

Ya en el complemento, ambos cuadros buscaron desesperadamente el pórtico contrario. Santos FC reclamó penal tras una mano de un jugador norteño, pero el árbitro no cobró la falta y el juego siguió su curso. Grau tuvo el gol del triunfo en la cabeza de Ceballos, lastimosamente su remate terminó pegando en el poste. Finalmente, el tiempo no dio para más y el juez marcó el final del partido.
