La Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol le realizó controles antidopaje a un total de 279 jugadores de las 10 selecciones participantes en la Copa América, prevista para comenzar este fin de semana en Brasil, todos fuera de competición, según informó este lunes la máxima autoridad del fútbol sudamericano.

Integrantes de la Comisión Médica y de la Unidad Antidopaje de la CONMEBOL llevaron a cargo la toma de muestras en los centros de entrenamiento de las diez selecciones: Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Paraguay, Uruguay y Venezuela.

"Es importante señalar que todos los controles se realizaron en cumplimiento estricto de todos los protocolos de bioseguridad y medidas sanitarias, como la realización de test de PCR establecidos en el Protocolo de Controles Antidopaje en periodo de pandemia", señaló la Conmebol en su comunicado.

Esta edición de la Copa América, que arrancará el 13 de junio, está envuelta en la polémica tras quedarse fuera Argentina y Colombia como sede compartida y la reasignación final en Brasil, uno de los países más castigados por el coronavirus.

Medios brasileños señalan un malestar de los jugadores de Brasil ante ese cambio de sede, en medio de rumores de un rechazo a participar en el torneo de selecciones más antiguo del mundo.

En todo caso, referentes de la selección de Brasil dijeron que emitirán una postura tras el partido de este martes contra Paraguay, en Asunción, de las clasificatorias sudamericanas al Mundial de Qatar 2022.
