Tras un primer tiempo timorato y sin ideas de ataque, Alianza Lima y Municipal reaccionaron para el segundo tiempo. La historia del partido cambió a los 83 minutos cuando Jefferson Farfán convirtió su primer tanto de un cabezazo. La jugada nació de un tiro libre de Ricardo Lagos y el delantero se sacó la marca de Cossio, convirtiendo así su primer gol en un debut soñado.
Con esta victoria, Alianza Lima suma cuatro puntos en el torneo y logra el quinto lugar del Grupo B. Mientras que, Deportivo Municipal ya encadena tres derrotas consecutivas y ocupa el último puesto con cero unidades
