Cerrando la jornada sabatina, Carlos Mannucci igualó 1-1 con Ayacucho FC en el Estadio Alejandro Villanueva por la fecha 7 de la Liga 1. Los trujillanos, con un hombre menos en gran parte del encuentro, consiguieron llevarse un punto.
Un duelo que se vio movido desde el pitazo inicial, cuando apenas a los siete minutos el delantero uruguayo Mauro Guevgeozian vio la tarjeta roja luego que, el árbitro Augusto Menéndez considerara que fue de manera antideportiva. Ello por supuesto condicionó al equipo ‘tricolor’, que tuvo que afrontar con 10 hombres gran parte del encuentro.
De esta manera, los ‘zorros’ sacaron provecho de esto y con un dominio territorial fue Othoniel Arce quien en 36 minutos, tuvo la más clara del primer tiempo con un disparo que chocó en el palo derecho.
Ya para la segunda mitad, el ingreso de Pablo Lavandeira para darle peso al frente de ataque le terminaría dando la razón al técnico Walter Fiori. En ese sentido, el volante uruguayo fue el encargado de abrir el marcador con un severo golazo, luego que se quite a cuanto jugador salió a la marca y eludiendo al portero Manuel Heredia definió a su gusto.
Con el 1-0 a favor, todo hacía pensar que Ayacucho FC no pasaría apuros y que por lo contrario sabría aumentar la diferencia. Sin embargo, todo lo contrario sucedió cuando a los 73′, Guillermo Firpo terminara yéndose a las duchas, igualando la cantidad de hombres en cancha.
Eso por supuesto le dio un nuevo aire a Mannucci que creció y que de a pocos fue generando ocasiones claras para poder empatar. Pero no sería sino hasta los 87 minutos, cuando una aparente falta dentro del área sea cobrada por Menéndez que momentos después concretaría Felipe Rodríguez.
Pero el partido todavía preparaba aún más instantes de tensión y en el tiempo de descuento, Carlos Olascuaga, también se fue expulsado, dejando a Ayacucho FC con nueve jugadores.
Finalmente el marcador no se movería más, y con este resultado Carlos A. Mannucci toma el quinto lugar del Grupo A con ocho puntos. Mientras que, Ayacucho FC se tuvo que conformar con el segundo puesto con 13 unidades.
