Melgar derrotó 2-0 a la Academia Cantolao con goles de Luis Iberico y Cristian Bordacahar y mantiene con vida sus chances de clasificar a la Copa Libertadores 2022. Gracias a este resultado, el conjunto arequipeño alcanzó -momentáneamente- el cuarto lugar del Acumulado con 34 puntos.

El Dominó impuso sus condiciones en el estadio de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos y no tuvo problemas para cosechar su novena victoria en la temporada. Melgar arrancó el partido con mucho entusiasmo y rápidamente pisaron terreno contrario.

Tal es así que las oportunidades de gol no tardaron en llegar. Luis Iberico logró abrir la cuenta luego de una gran asistencia de Bernardo Cuesta. El extremo solo tuvo que poner su botín derecho para enviar el balón al fondo de la red y desatar la locura en el banco rojinegro.

Minutos después, Alexis Arias casi marca el segundo, lastimosamente para él, la esférica terminó pegando en el poste derecho de Lozada. Ya en el complemento, Melgar volvió a dominar el juego y encontró el 2-0 tras un potente remate del argentino Cristian Bordacahar.

Posteriormente, Lozada se convirtió en la figura de su equipo tras evitar que el marcador se convirtiera en goleada. El portero le ahogó el grito de gol a Cuesta, quien se mostró muy desequilibrante. Finalmente, el tiempo no dio para más y el árbitro marcó el final de los 90 minutos.
