Ugarte precisó que, ante la solicitud de la FPF, se hizo la consulta al comité consultivo de alto nivel y se determinó que "la CONMEBOL no ha indicado que sea obligatoria la vacunación de los jugadores para que participen en sus competiciones".
El titular de Salud dijo que la carta de la FPF se refiere a la vacunación contra la COVID-19 como una obligación que impone la CONMEBOL a los países participantes, "pero ahora sabemos que no es así", por lo que serán vacunados cuando les corresponda.
No obstante, evitó calificar la actuación de la FPF y dijo que el Gobierno, a través del Ministerio de Salud, analiza y toma decisiones sobre la base de políticas claramente definidas en el Plan Nacional de Vacunación.
"Para eso tenemos una comisión que nos asesora sobre quiénes deben vacunarse antes que otros, por el mayor riesgo que presentan. Ese es el criterio que estamos aplicando con los adultos mayores", señaló.
La inmunización de los futbolistas y el cuerpo técnico del seleccionado estaba anunciada para hoy en las instalaciones de la Villa Deportiva Nacional, en San Luis; sin embargo, fue suspendida. Esta decisión originó una serie de comentarios, a favor y en contra, en las redes sociales y los medios de comunicación.
