Tras unos 90 minutos llenos de tensión, Deportivo Municipal venció 1-0 a la Academia Cantolao y logró su pase a los octavos de final de la Copa Bicentenario. Los ediles contaron con la fortuna de penal para que Erinson Ramírez convirtiera el único gol del partido en segunda instancia.
Los dirigidos por Franco Navarro impusieron su buen fútbol desde el pitazo inicial, pero el físico no les bastó para poder ampliar el marcador a su favor. De hecho, sufrieron en la parte defensiva para evitar el gol del empate de Cantolao.
Un duelo con muchas llegadas de los ediles, pero sin profundidad. No obstante, sobre los minutos finales del primer tiempo se cobró un penal polémico a favor de Municipal. Erinson Ramírez se encargó del remate pero erró en primera instancia. El rebote le quedó justo a su pierna derecha para que decrete el 1-0 definitivo.
Para el complemento, el partido fue muy friccionado y sin claras ocasiones de gol. Cantolao tomó protagonismo en el juego, pero todas sus llegadas fueron despejadas por la defensa edil. De esta manera, Municipal avanzó a los octavos de final de la Copa Bicentenario y enfrentará a Atlético Grau, quien quiere defender su título en esta temporada.
