El equipo de nuestro compatriota la pasó bastante mal en el encuentro, ya que los dueños de casa supieron imponer su condición desde un inicio, lo que les permitió adelantarse en el marcador con una anotación de Memo Rodríguez en el primer tiempo.
El San José no encontraba los caminos para contrarrestar la presión del Houston Dynamo, que en la parte complementaria aumentó su ventaja por intermedio de un tanto de Maximiliano Urruti.
Marcos López fue cambiado a los 15 minutos del segundo tiempo, con el fin de que entre un jugador de mayor vocación ofensiva y lo que aparentemente le dio resultados a su escuadra, ya que Paul Marie marcó el descuento.
En los minutos restantes, el San José amagó con buscar el empate, pero ni sus armas ni el tiempo le permitió salvar al menos un punto. Para la próxima jornada, buscará levantar cabeza en la MLS ante el FC Dallas en condición de local.
