Los 'Celestes' siguen sin poder sumar de a tres y aparentemente queda lejos de poder avanzar en el certamen.
A falta de que este miércoles jueguen el Rentistas uruguayo y Sao Paulo, Racing queda como líder del Grupo E con 8 puntos, mientras que Cristal, que solo tiene uno, puede quedar “matemáticamente” eliminado si los brasileños puntúan ante los charrúas.
El partido fue muy similar al jugado hace dos semanas en El Cilindro de Avellaneda, donde Sporting Cristal fue más consistente; pero, falló claras ocasiones de gol, mientras que Racing supo esperar su momento para golpear y noquear a su rival.
En ese guion volvió a ser determinante Tomás Chancalay, autor también del gol de la victoria de Racing sobre Cristal en Buenos Aires y de otros tantos importantes en las últimas semanas que han servido para disipar las dudas que pesaban sobre el técnico Juan Antonio Pizzi por la irregularidad del equipo.
Gran parte del mérito que la 'Academia' mantuviese su arco imbatido lo tuvo Arias, el más destacado de Racing, que con sus intervenciones frustró el anhelado gol del ecuatoriano Washington Corozo.
El extremo izquierdo de Sporting Cristal salió a la cancha decidido a redimirse con la afición después de convertirse en el objeto de su ira por las claras ocasiones de gol desperdiciadas ante Sao Paulo y Rentistas; sin embargo, la suerte siguió sin sonreírle.
Primero fue con un eléctrico latigazo con el pie derecho que se estampó el travesaño y luego con un potente zurdazo que repelió al córner Arias. Entre una y otra acción del ecuatoriano, el arquero argentino-chileno rechazó sobre la línea de gol un remate de cabeza de Christopher Gonzáles.
El destino todavía le daría a Corozo una ocasión aún mejor, un mano a mano que le ganó Arias para frustrar aún más al ecuatoriano, que desperdició una ocasión idéntica a la que tuvo ante Rentistas.
Eso terminó por desinflar a los celestes, mientras que Racing ganó con el ingreso a la cancha de Copetti, Chancalay y Piatti, que le dieron la pegada que le faltaba al equipo argentino para terminar por llevarse el partido.
Tomás Chancalay golpeó primero con un remate a la media vuelta en el corazón del área y, solo dos minutos después, Ignacio Piatti hizo el segundo gol con un soberbio e impecable cañonazo desde fuera del área que fue una metáfora de la seguridad de un equipo y del otro para definir y llevarse los tres puntos.
