Por la jornada 33 de la Eredivisie, Emmen tuvo de goleador a Sergio Peña para indicar que siguen con vida en esta complicada lucha por la permanencia. El equipo de nuestro compatriota venció 3-1 a Heerenveen, con hat-trick del peruano a los largo de los 90 minutos.

Un partido clave para FC Emmen, quien venía de dos derrotas consecutivas en la Eredivisie. Los únicos peruanos que se hicieron presente en este compromiso fueron Miguel Araujo y Sergio Peña, este último salió a los 93 minutos y anotó tres goles para su equipo, Jean Pierre Rhyner y Didier La Torre se quedaron en el banco de suplentes.

El partido inició favorable para FC Emmen, quien encontró la fortuna del penal sobre los 19 minutos. El VAR tuvo que intervenir en la acción ya que parecía que la falta fue fuera del área, pero finalmente se decidió la pena máxima. Sergio Peña tomó responsabilidad y no falló desde los 11 pasos.

Las buenas nuevas llegaban para Emmen, y es que sobre los 27 minutos una falta de Schone generó la polémica en el campo. El árbitro le mostró la tarjeta amarilla, pero luego el VAR le indicó que la revisara por una posible roja. Esto, hizo que el juez principal anule la amonestación y lo expulse al jugador rival.

Para el complemento, otro penal para FC Emmen que daba la oportunidad a Sergio Peña de anotar doblete. El peruano no falló el disparo y puso el 2-0 parcial sobre los 53 minutos.

El partido estaba prácticamente cerrado; pero, para Peña un doblete de penal no era suficiente. Es por ello, que sobre los 82 minutos un tiro de esquina dejó un balón suelto fuera del área, el cual nuestro compatriota remató de primera para anotar un soberbio gol y el 3-0 para Emmen.

Sobre los minutos finales, un descuido en la defensa hizo que Heerenveen logre recortar distancias y no permitir la goleada de FC Emmen. Nygren fue quien marcó el descuento a los 88′ para sentenciar el 3-1 en casa.

De esta manera, FC Emmen sigue en la antepenúltima posición de la tabla con 27 unidades. Willem II logró ganar y eso complicó sus aspiraciones de pasarlo en la tabla. Ahora, todo se definirá en la fecha final cuando Emmen enfrente a Venlo y Willem II a Sittard.
