Los 'cremas' se quedaron sin Sudamericana y ahora solo se deberán enfocar en la Copa Bicentenario y Liga 1.
Un cotejo que inició con un Universitario con ganas de ir al ataque; pero, sin poca profundidad en los primeros minutos. Poco a poco iba a acentuándose en el campo hasta que en los 17' una acción polémica terminó siendo expulsión para Alberto Quintero.
El popular 'Chiquitín' quiso disputar un balón tras salida de Weverton y terminó impactando con el portero. El árbitro no dudó ni un segundo para mostrarle la roja y dejar a Universitario con 10 hombres en menos de 20 minutos de partido.
A partir de ahí, Palmeiras tomó el control del juego con un Universitario cabizbajo y sin ganas de estar en el terreno de juego. Viña apareció a las 42' para romper el 0-0, mientras que Ze Rafael apareció en los descuentos de la primera parte para el 2-0 parcial.
En el complemento, ninguno de los equipos realizó cambios y Palmeiras no bajó los brazos en ataque. Gustavo Gómez apareció a los 55' para el 3-0, mientras que Willian se hizo presente a los 61' para el 4-0.
Sobre los 78', el recién ingresado Rony solo tuvo tres minutos en campo para anotar y decretar el 5-0. No conforme con ello, apareció a los 90' tras error defensivo y liquidar el marcador a 6-0. De esta manera, Universitario se queda sin Copa Sudamericana y cataloga una goleada histórica en la Copa Libertadores.
