Universitario de Deportes no pudo en su visita a Ecuador y cayó apabullado 4-0 ante Independiente del Valle, por la fecha 3 de la fase de grupos de la Copa Libertadores. Los ‘cremas’ nunca encontraron la ‘brújula’ y vendieron caro los errores defensivos.
La formación ecuatoriana llegó hoy a 4 puntos, los mismos que Defensa y Justicia, aunque el mejor saldo goleador deja al campeón de la Copa Sudamericana de 2020 en el segundo puesto.
El conjunto que dirige el portugués Renato Paiva mostró hoy en el estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado su mejor cara, desde el comienzo de la fase de grupos en la que debutó con un 1-1 en casa ante Defensa y Justicia, sin embargo, fue goleado por 5-0 en Sao Paulo ante Palmeiras.
El partido arrancó con pocas emociones, con niveles discretos en ambos equipos, aunque se complicó más para el local porque su hombre dínamo del medio campo, el argentino Cristian Pellerano, se mostró lento y errático, aunque de ello no se aprovechó el visitante.
El primero en disfrutar de una ocasión para convertir fue el centrocampista argentino Lorenzo Faravelli, que recibió pase cerca del arco y enfiló remate de media vuelta que se escapó por el costado izquierdo del portero visitante José Carvallo. El mismo Carvallo resolvió otra posibilidad, arriesgándose para bloquear con su cuerpo un disparo del atacante Joffre Escobar.
La insistencia del local dio resultado en la última acción del primer tiempo, con un preciso remate del extremo Sánchez por el costado izquierdo del portero, tras un fantástico pase entre líneas del atacante juvenil Pedro Vite.
Los locales insistieron en su propuesta ofensiva. Tras una descolgada del defensa José Hurtado, habilitó al punto de penalti al atacante Murillo, que con disparo al costado izquierdo anotó el segundo del partido.
Otro ataque a fondo del cuadro ecuatoriano por el costado derecho, terminó en el tercer tanto, con espléndido remate, desde el costado izquierdo del atacante Sánchez, su segundo tanto en el partido. El cuarto gol fue obra del atacante argentino Ortiz (m.85), que reapareció con el Independiente tras superar el contagio de Coronavirus que sufrió.
