Por la fecha 9 de la Fase 1, Universitario de Deportes no pasó del empate sin goles ante Carlos A. Mannucci en el Estadio Iván Elías Moreno, deslizando el sueño de poder hacerse del Grupo A de la Liga 1. Tanto ‘cremas’ como ‘carlistas’ apuntan a reinventarse para la segunda parte del torneo.

Un encuentro en el que los dirigidos por Ángel Comizzo llegaron con grandes opciones de poder avanzar a la gran final de la Fase 1, sin embargo, el panorama era bastante difícil teniendo en cuenta que dependían de otros resultados para poder salir airosos.

A ello, habría que sumarle que no contaba con tres jugadores entre ellos la del uruguayo Hernán Novick, clave para los intereses de esta tarde dominical. Pero la polémica de la tarde se dio sobre los 70 minutos cuando José Carvallo, ante un mal control del balón, intentó despejar pero en vez de tocar el balón sino el rostro de Relly Fernández lo cual debió haber sido cobrado por el árbitro Legario como penal. El reclamo no se hizo esperar; pero, siquiera eso bastó para que el juez principal cambie de decisión.

Empate consumado al pitazo final, que dejó a Universitario de Deportes en el tercer lugar del Grupo A con 15 unidades y tendrá que pensar de ahí en más en su visita a Palmeiras por la Copa Libertadores. Mientras que Carlos Mannucci, se alista para la Copa Bicentenario.
