El final de la Fase 1 también ha sido el final para algunos entrenadores. La Liga 1 ha visto cómo UTC y Cienciano destituyeron a sus directores técnicos por no alcanzar los resultados esperados.
La Universidad Técnica de Cajamarca anunció que el comando técnico de Pablo Garabello dejaba de formar parte de la institución. Otro club de la Liga 1 que se quedó sin técnico es Cienciano. Tras su mala racha en la última parte de la Fase 1 donde se le escapó el pase a la final, Marcelo Grioni fue destituido de mutuo acuerdo según informó la página “Soy hincha del Papá, soy del Cienciano”.
Grioni llegó al cuadro cusqueño en la temporada 2019 consiguiendo 12 triunfos en la Segunda División que le permitió ascender a la Liga 1. La directiva imperial ya se encuentra en la busqueda del reemplazo y los principales nombres que suenan con fuerza son los de Christian Díaz, Mariano Soso y Carlos Ramacciotti.
