Un encuentro que en su primera mitad tuvo mucha más fricción de lo debido. Lo mismo que llevó a que el juego se vuelva mucho más cortado de lo pensado y que contará con escasas ocasiones por ambos lados, haciendo que el marcador no sufriera modificaciones al descanso.
Ya para la segunda mitad, el 'Delfín' creció y aprovechó el desorden defensivo de los 'ediles'. En ese sentido, la figura de Mario Tajima fue clave para lograr desbordar constantemente por las bandas, haciendo que los delanteros hagan la labor de posicionarse en el área grande para lograr su cometido.
Fue entonces a los 71 minutos, cuando el propio Tajima sacó el centro desde la banda derecha encontrando a Gabriel Leyes por el segundo palo, quien de cabeza vencería la humanidad de Daniel Prieto.
Sin embargo, la escuadra 'chalaca' no soltaría el acelerado y fue con la misión de liquidar. A partir de los cambios, Jorge Espejo encontró las soluciones y cuando se cumplían los 90' minutos, Bryan Reyna interceptó el área rival para en dos tiempos conseguir el segundo a cuenta local.
Por su parte, Municipal no bajaría los brazos y si bien no le alcanzó el tiempo logró descontar mediante el colombiano, Luis Cardoza (90+3').
Con este resultado, la Academia Cantolao obtuvo su tercer triunfo consecutivo y logra ponerse en el noveno puesto con 11 unidades. Mientras que, Deportivo Municipal cae al decimotercer lugar con ocho puntos.
