Cienciano del Cusco arrancó la Fase 2 de la Liga 1 con un categórico triunfo 4-1 sobre Sport Boys en el estadio Alejandro Villanueva "Matute". El delantero argentino Danilo Carando se erigió como la gran figura del partido tras marcar un triplete en su regreso al cuadro imperial. 

Cienciano arrancó el partido con mucha intensidad y rápidamente logró abrir la cuenta por intermedio de Carando a los 2', quien se deshizo de su marca y tras conectar el balón con un cabezazo, venció la resistencia chalaca previa gran asistencia de Raziel García desde un tiro de esquina.

Minutos después, el conjunto cusqueño abusó de la pierna fuerte y el árbitro tuvo que amonestar a tres de sus jugadores. Cienciano aumentó la cuenta a los 33' con la misma fórmula: centro de Raziel García y cabezazo de Danilo Carando. Dos minutos más tarde, llegó el tercero por intermedio de Kevin Sandoval.

Ya en el complemento, Sport Boys adelantó sus líneas en busca del descuento. Premio al esfuerzo, a los 58' apareció Joao Villamarín y puso el 1-3 tras un centro de Jesús Chávez. Finalmente, Cienciano liquidó el encuentro al 90+3' con un disparo desde los doce pasos de Carando, quien selló su triplete.
