El partido fue de ida y vuelta en la primera mitad, con ambos conjuntos proponiendo en el campo rival. Sin embargo, ese ímpetu para buscar un resultado favorable se veía contrarrestado con las imprecisiones en los metros finales del campo. Tal vez, esa necesidad de sumar tres puntos luego de varias semanas fue un factor importante para Cienciano quien se apoyó en Romagnoli, García y más figuras para generar peligro en el arco rival. No fue de sorprender que recién sobre los 44 minutos se abriera el marcador por parte del argentino.
Con ello, Cienciano sumó 9 unidades y está en la 7ma casilla. Además, pudo dejar atrás los cinco resultados adversos de las fechas anteriores. Por su parte, César Vallejo se queda en la 4ta posición con 11 puntos.
