Por los octavos de final de la Copa Bicentenario 2021, Atlético Grau se impuso en la tanda de penales (5-4) a Deportivo Municipal en la VIDENA y pudo avanzar a la instancia de cuartos de la competencia. El vigente campeón del torneo supo aguantar a los ‘ediles’ en los 90 minutos y mostró toda su efectividad desde los doce pasos.
Un encuentro que en su primer tiempo tuvo más de una ocasión clara de gol, siendo la más peligrosa en los pies de Erinson Ramírez en tan solo tres minutos. No obstante, la respuesta llegó en 16′, cuando Roberto Céspedes sacó un potente remate a tres dedos que pegó en el palo; salvando la portería de Diego Melián.
Ya para la parte complementaria fue Municipal el que tomó protagonismo. En ese aspecto, un remate con pequeño desvío en Ramírez descolocó a ‘Banana’ Ruíz que vio cómo el esférico pasaba por la línea a la rápida respuesta de la defensa piurana.
Sin embargo, todo parecía ponerse cuesta arriba cuando a los 79 minutos Bryan Rivas fue expulsado por doble tarjeta amarilla, lo que hacía pensar que la anotación de los dirigidos por Franco Navarro estaba cerca. Pero siquiera ello terminó cambiando el empate a cero sobre los 90 minutos.
En la tanda de los penales fue el arquero Ruíz quien con toda su experiencia logró atajar el tiro de Hernán ‘El Charapa’ Rengifo, dejando a Neil Marcos con la responsabilidad de que anote el quinto y decisivo disparo, que le dio el pase a cuartos de final de la Copa Bicentenario a Atlético Grau de Piura.
De ahí en más, el cuadro norteño esperará al ganador del duelo entre Deportivo Coopsol y Sport Chavelines.
