El partido se presentó bastante peleado durante gran tramo del mismo, con un cuadro 'poeta' que lo intentaba por el centro del campo mediante Silva y Millán, pero la defensa íntima supo frenar a tiempo cada ataque. Y un arquero Campos que otra vez entregó su valla invicta.
Alianza lo intentaba como podía, a veces con juego colectivo y otra sin muchas ideas, pero si hay algo que destacar es el orden en sus líneas, las mismas que evitó que se desesperen y, por el contrario, muestren paciencia cuando las cosas no les salen.
Para la segunda mitad los trujillanos volvieron al ataque por las bandas, tratando de generar dudas a las espaldas de los defensores. Sin embargo, no hallaron los espacios suficientes como para dañar el arco blanquiazul. Y si a eso le sumamos el ingreso de Farfán a los 73 minutos, los 'poetas' no tuvieron como romper la paridad.
Así fue como tras disputar un balón por el lado derecho, Mora sacó un centro preciso para que la 'Foquita' aparezca por el centro y tras ganar a su marcador se tiró al suelo para empujar el balón a los 83 minutos. Y sin mayores problemas lograron quedarse con los tres puntos.
Con este resultado, Alianza Lima marcha en la primera posición de la tabla de la Fase 2 con sus 21 puntos y le sacó 5 de ventaja al segundo que es Mannucci con 16. Por su parte, César Vallejo, se quedó en la casilla 13 con 11 unidades.
