Con este resultado, ninguno de los dos equipos se logra alejar del todo de la zona del descenso.
Pero es el 'Rojo Matador' el más complicado y no solo por encontrarse más cerca de la parte baja de la tabla acumulada, sino porque ya suma varios meses en los que no sabe de victorias y ello viene comprometiendo su situación de cara con la permanencia.
Y así parecía entenderlo Sport Huancayo, que se mostró algo más ofensivo que su rival porteño, logrando con dicha actitud abrir el marcador con una anotación del brasileño Liliu.
Sport Boys parecía no tener muchas armas en ataque para complicar el arco huancaíno, hasta que en la última jugada del primer tiempo, apareció Luis Ramírez para aprovechar un balón parado y no tener más que añadir el esférico para así decretar el empate.
En la segunda parte ninguno de los dos equipos se atrevió a arriesgar de más, lo que hizo que los 45 minutos finales estuvieran carentes de emociones. Tanto Sport Huancayo como Sport Boys se sintieron conformes con el punto y el empate a uno ya no varió más.
