Con un gran orden y precisión frente al arco, los dirigidos por Eduardo Berizzo se metieron a cuartos de final del certamen, con los goles de Braian Samudio y Miguel Almirón.
Fuera de esas dos jugadas, el encuentro no ofreció mayores situaciones de peligro y se vio a una selección chilena muy desgastada físicamente y desordenada en la zona media de la cancha.
Los dirigidos por Martín Lasarte resintieron de forma notoria la falta de Erick Pulgar, que durante el torneo le ha dado mucha verticalidad al juego chileno liberando en la salida a Arturo Vidal y Charles Aránguiz.
Chile estuvo errático en los pases, jugó hacia el lado y no tuvo momentos memorables a lo largo de los 90 minutos, con excepción de una mano en el área que reclamaron en ‘La Roja’ pero que fue desestimada por Wilmar Roldán tras revisar la jugada en el VAR.
Miguel Almirón fue la figura destacada del cuadro paraguayo, transformándose en una complicación para la última línea chilena que no lo supo contener hasta que fue sustituido.
A la fecha, Paraguay suma seis unidades y con este triunfo quedó ubicado en la segunda posición del Grupo A, detrás de la selección Argentina.
