Los tantos de la contienda fueron anotados por Maximiliano Freitas para los chiclayanos, pero lo dieron vuelta Ichiro Plasencia e Israel Kahn de penal para los de Pacasmayo.
El partido se mostró parejo en los primeros minutos en cuanto a tenencia de balón aunque fue Chavelines quien se acercaba con mayor peligro al arco rival. Sin embargo, la falta de claridad en los últimos metros terminaron costándole pues fue Freitas, de Stein, quien aprovechó la que tuvo y anotó el primero a los 33 minutos de juego.
Con la ventaja, los chiclayanos manejaron con cautela el balón y esperaron por los ataques rivales para doblegarlos de contra. Esto no sucedió porque los de Pacasmayo no se desesperaron y jugaron con inteligencia. A pesar de ello, se fueron con la desventaja a los vestuarios.
Para el complemento, con el ingreso de Hinostroza, Chavelines ganó mucho en mitad de campo para adelante. No sorprendió entonces que a los 59' tras un remate de larga distancia, Plasencia aprovechara el rebote para poner el empate.
Y sobre el final, a los 80 minutos, una falta cometida por el arquero Quiroz le dio la oportunidad a Khan para poner el 2-1 definitivo y darle cierta justicia al marcador por lo que habían hecho hasta ese momento en el campo.
Con este resultado, Sport Chavelines se ubica en la segunda casilla pero con el mismo puntaje de 10 puntos que el líder Unión Comercio mientras que Carlos Stein queda en la casilla 6 con sus 7 unidades. Además, los de Pacasmayo se ubican líderes en el Acumulado de la Liga 2.
